Vapor Product Trends Outlook for 2016

2016 Vaping TrendsWith a new year right upon us, we are looking forward to what’s to come. Every year, we watch the vapor products industry evolve in new directions, unveil all sorts of new innovations, and experience the technology in action.

In 2015, the availability and options in regards to the most high-tech box mods, sub ohm devices, and exceptionally high quality e-liquids became extremely mainstream. What used to be reserved for only the most eager of DIY vape enthusiasts became accessible to any and everyone who wanted to experience the power of taking the control of a box mod into their own hands. In a few short months, the industry changed entirely. Trailing on this trend, we expect 2016 to offer even greater offerings in terms of technology, and making very advanced products available to those who want them, without having to construct them on their own, if they do not want to.

As for regulations, we are awaiting them because it seems rather imminent in the US. One way or another, (and hopefully they will be created with fairness and common sense in mind), it is only a matter of time before they are here. While we do not know what to expect exactly, we do hope that all regulations instituted are fair and not oppressing to the industry and its users.

It has been predicted that the overall sales of electronic cigarette products sales for 2015 would be somewhere in the vicinity of $3.5 billion; quite a legitimate market when you weigh all angles. In fact, current models show that by 2018, the vapor products industry is expected to reach the $10 billion range. The growth is imminent, and despite the impending regulations that are clearly an obstacle the vapor products market is contending with, this industry is way greater than a single trend; it’s a thriving niche.

So, 2016 is almost here and we are most definitely looking to the future with promise and optimism. We expect growth, innovation, and continuing to evolve with this ever-changing industry. From everyone here at IVG, we wish you a super, happy New Year!

Tobacco Cigarette Use Hits Record Low, E-Cigarette Use on the Rise: Correlation?

E-cigarette Usage and Smoking Rates DownThe CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recently reported positively on the recently reviewed data, showing that tobacco cigarette use is at an all-time record low of 14.9% for the year 2015, demolishing the previous year’s record of 16.8%. While the CDC is quick to congratulate themselves on this monumental success, claiming it is their ads that have inspired people to drop the habit, there is a counterclaim coming from England: it’s really the e-cigs.

This is not exactly a surprise to us, as the timing seems rather obvious. More people vaping, less people smoking. Sure, the ads coming from the CDC, graphic and dramatic as they may be, are certainly deserving of some credit, however, smokers are fully understanding of what their options are. Options being vapor smoking.

Earlier this year, Public Health England released a comprehensive, evidence-based study that examined the usage habits of electronic cigarette users, and the results were very much eye-opening. They deemed that when all factors are weighed in, electronic cigarette devices are 95% safer than traditional cigarettes. Not 50%, not 75%, but 95% safer. And this is coming from a highly intelligent, first world nation that has the ability to spend large amounts of capital on such an in-depth study. The study also provided straightforward data on how users were using the devices, and it concluded that e-cigarettes are directly related to the declining rate of smokers in the UK.

At the same time, while England is promoting the use of e-cigarettes as a significant and convenient way to opt out of your smoking habit in favor of a gentler alternative, the US is concentrating on their semantics. Using carefully chosen words to attempt to say that e-cigarettes are basically the same as tobacco products, the CDC is more concerned with minimizing the e-cigarette issue than it is embracing alternative options for people who want options to traditional tobacco.

Politics aside, when the data of the study was further analyzed, what was concluded was that among the 2 million vapers in the UK, 85% of them reported quitting smoking in the past 5 years. And if this is indicative of other parts of the world, most predictably in the US, it’s clear that many people are turning to e-cigarettes to fill a void not being met elsewhere.

A Critical Look Behind Harvard’s Study on Diacetyl & E-Liquids

E-Cigarettes and DiacetylTo those outside of this industry, the recent media uproar that came as a direct offshoot of a study recently done by Harvard University’s School of Public Health, has everyone believing e-cigarettes are an imminent threat to those who use them because everyone is getting majorly exposed to diacetyl. And, as a result, the possibility of developing the horror that is known as popcorn lung is a disaster waiting to happen if you are using vapor products. Unfortunately, this sensationalized account of the reality of diacetyl exposure all comes down to the liquids one is using. And if a vaper is vaping with any IVG brands’ liquids, this chemical will not be a part of their juice, therefore this supposed risk of popcorn lung is reduced drastically.

Diacetyl is not contained in all e-liquids by any means. And for those who are regular users of vapor products, they already are aware of the dangers of diacetyl, and they steer clear of any products containing it. South Beach Smoke, EverSmoke, VaporFi, and Motley Brew are totally pleased to be 100% diacetyl free, always.

The study, which sampled a mere 51 flavors, attempted to paint a broad picture of the entire e-liquids industry based on those individual products. Considering the wide scale of brands, including high-quality brands who maintain very pure, diacetyl-free liquids, the stat of 75% of liquids containing diacetyl is exceptionally disproportionate.

Such an unfortunate account of misreporting and a failure on the part of Harvard University’s research team in this study is massively detrimental to an industry whose sole focus is to offer tobacco smokers alternatives that fit their lifestyles. By no means can we make claims on behalf of the whole industry, but there is no excuse for excluding the very many brands who are totally committed to steering clear of dangerous substances like diacetyl in their products.

We hope that anyone who uses e-liquids will read between the lines and see how biased this report is. In addition, it is also our sincerest hope that those who are a part of this industry continue to shoot down the lies because simply, they are wrong.

Why More Users are Transitioning to E-Liquids

Best Quality E-LiquidsWhen the industry first started out, there was a major market for cartridges that came pre-filled with liquids, enabling the user to just pop one onto their e-cigs and go. When it was used all the way through, they simply swapped the old for a new one and went vaping along on their merry way. When people started transitioning to more advanced products, such as personal vaporizers and realized their options in filling their tanks and cartridges themselves, along with the ability to save some money over the cost of cartridges, the market for liquids exploded and more and more users began demanding e-liquids of higher quality.

Understanding the traction of this trend, International Vapor Group has established two of the best options in the market with VaporFi E-Liquids and Motley Brew E-Liquids. Both carry juices designed to please the serious vapers in the industry, and have aimed to maintain the highest level of standards in existence anywhere in the world for e-liquid production.

VaporFi, which has redefined what the e-liquid industry can do, set the bar really high for brands looking to tap into this market, offering exceptional quality and a wildly unlimited range of flavor possibilities. The result has been a brand that has achieved international success, and customers who are beyond satisfied knowing they can get exactly what they want in an e-liquid without having to create it themselves. Also of note, VaporFi’s range of liquid offerings has expanded into two additional lines of specialty product, with an even greater emphasis on exclusivity and quality.

Motley Brew, a newcomer to the industry, set forth a new direction, offering a select level of flavors, made in small batches, of the most supreme quality around. These liquids have garnered a cult following very fast, and were even awarded top honors as “Best in Show” at the 2015 Vape Summit.

Currently, users are increasingly gravitating to using top-caliber e-liquids made by the best brands in the industry because they have realized the potential for ultimate performance, experiences, and they understand that the better made liquids are, the better their own results will be. We could not be more pleased to be raising the standard, and keeping the crowd happy with the best liquids out there!
